PROJECT SUMMARY
Too often students select a university based on criteria that they are told is important but does not reflect their personal areas of need. Dissatisfaction resulting from a misinformed choice can lead to undergoing a costly and disruptive transfer, skipping class or dropping-out, or just enduring two or four miserable years that didn't live up to your high expectations. SchoolPicker is a website concept that provides prospective students a holistic look at a school's culture, as relayed by current or former attendees. This concept was inspired by the impending graduation of group mate Brandon Brown and our musings that it is easier to make an informed choice about where to eat tonight than it is to pick a school for four years. SchoolPicker allows students to explore schools based on how they might fulfill physical (facilities and location), intellectual (intensity of academics), social (peers, sports, clubs, nightlife), and emotional (stress levels, student culture) needs so that they can make a truly informed decision. |
