PROJECT SUMMARY
I pitched this concept to DAP to improve the experience users had with glue. For the research portion of this project, I worked on a team of five to conduct two in-depth home interviews with current glue users. I developed my concept after a group ideation session that focused on user needs and other insights gleaned from interviews and observation. The pain point I chose to address was frustration about knowing which glue would be effective for a specific project depending on the materials involved. Often users cited a bad experience when the glue didn't work- blaming the glue itself even when the onus was on them for choosing the wrong glue for the job. Existing systems designed to meet this need were not meeting consumer needs because they were too complex or they only existed online, which users did not readily visit during a glue project. To meet this need, I created a glue dispensing system that accomplished three things: 1) It clearly told the user which glue would work on the two surfaces. 2) It was equipped with other tools, creating additional value to the user to prevent them from disposing it. 3) It was easy and convenient to store. |
