Hello! I'm Karah.

​I thrive in creative spaces where I can utilize my strong analytical and design skills. I know my way around Adobe Illustrator as well as a complex Excel macro. I can switch back and forth between objective statistical calculations and empathetic ethnographic observation.

I enjoy teaching myself and finding innovative solutions to problems that you didn’t think you had the capacity or capability to solve. And I am one hell of a team member.​

I graduated in May 2016 from a dual degree program that combines design leadership and business management. I hope to work for a company that understands the value of human capital development and allows me to use my curiosity, problem-solving, and design thinking techniques to generate solutions to business problems.

What I'm All About

Above all else, I'm a designer. I incorporate a variety of design techniques into my process, including many design thinking principles.

I'm a proud Marylander. I was raised in Germantown but went to school all across Montgomery County, including two completely opposite places, Silver Spring and Poolesville.

I'm an urban explorer. I love visiting cities and seeing how they are organized to create value for the communities they house. This is me in Austin.

I'm a beer lover. I think the best collaboration happens over a few pints of a delicious beer (IPAs are my favorite).

I'm biracial and a middle child. These aspects of my identity have helped me develop skills in mediation, code-switching, and the ability to connect seemingly disparate worlds.

I'm a creative. Whether it's baking, sewing, painting, crafting, or creating collage art, I love being able to make things I'm proud of. This is a lily I made for my Popo (grandma).

​Team Experiences

I derive energy and inspiration from colleagues and enjoy the creative experience and output from working on an effective team. Through my job experience, I've gained immense skill for navigating the various working, learning, and conflict styles among team members and using them to propel creative collaboration.

Divergent & Convergent Thinking

Throughout the design process, I regularly and deftly switch between divergent and convergent thinking and exercises. This enables me to be involved in big picture strategy and ideation but to also expertly execute the small stuff at the micro level.

Ethnographic Research

Although I enjoyed crunching numbers in spreadsheets as much as the next business student, my core strength is empathy. I can interact with people on all levels, of all backgrounds, and I am able to analyze a product, system, or service from multiple perspectives to ensure successful adoption or implementation.
